Sporting Bears Motoring Club will be auctioning off the chance to ride in a Ferrari La Ferrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder at this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show.
The show, which is the biggest indoor motoring event in the UK, will be running from November 14th to 16th where Sporting Bears will be auctioning off a ride in one of these cars each day.
Silverstone Auctions will be in charge of putting the Porsche 918 Spyder track ride under the hammer as part of the Wheeler Dealer Live Stage on Friday November 14th. The McLaren P1 will be part of the Silverstone Auctions’ sale on Saturday November 15th and the Ferrari LaFerrari will finally go up for bidding on Sunday November 16th.
The track rides will take place on the GP circuit at Silverstone in 2015 with FIA qualified racing driver Paul Bailey behind the wheel. These cars will do three laps of the 3.66 mile track at racing speed.
People who are not successful in the auctions need not fret, though, as six more rides will be up for grabs from Sporting Bears as part of a raffle. Tickets for this cost £1 and mean anyone could be in with the chance of winning a ride in one of these cars.
The auctions are intended to raise money for the Acorn Children’s Hospice. So far, Sporting Bears has already raised over £1 million for a variety of children’s charities.
Over recent years, Sporting Bears has become known at Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show for the so-called Dream Rides it offers. This is where attendees can make a charitable donation and, in return, they get a ten-mile ride as a passenger in one of the dream machines owner by Sporting Bears members.
The difference between these Dream Rides and the hypercar rides, however, is that the former takes place on public highways while the latter occurs on a track, giving passengers the chance to experience the car at its full power.
