Next year, the Silverstone Classic will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee and it will be kicking off its celebrations at the Autosport International show.
Between January 8th and 11th at Birmingham NEC, it will be teaming up with Classic and Sports Car magazine to create a massive display.
Visitors will get to see iconic racing and road cars of the past, while top series organisers who have been involved in putting the UK in a high position in motorsport will also be there.
The set piece aims to look at many of the grids that have thrust the Silverstone Classic into high esteem as well as the supercars that are often regularly revered within Classic and Sports Car magazine.
In pole position will be the 1990 Silver Arrows Mercedes C11 sports prototype, which will join eight other competition cars that will be gathered to celebrate the anniversary. The car was raced by Michael Schumacher during its heydey and has proved to be a crowd pleaser at Silverstone.
The other cars from motor sport history that will be on show include the Jaguar D-type that gained its fame during the fifties. There will also be more recent cars on show, like the ex-James Thompson Honda Accord that hails from the Super Touring generation and won at the hands of James Dodd last summer. There will also be the Lister Storm that was involved in the 90s GT Legends demonstrations during the Summer.
To pay tribute to the Grand Prix grids of the past that are often crowd favourites, there will be a JPS Lotus 87 and one of the first Cooper F1s of the sixties.
There will be many more Silverstone Classic events coming up throughout 2015 to celebrate its Silver Jubilee.
Event director Nick Wigley said: “What better way to kick off what’s going to be an amazing 25th anniversary year for the Silverstone Classic than with this magnificent show stopping display?”
“We have already confirmed that Status Quo will be topping the live music line-up on Saturday evening and we have lots more exciting announcements to make in the coming months.”
