Fast approaching is the Paul Walker Tribute event being held over at Santa Pod Raceway in Northampton. The event is a charity meet hosted by Santa Pod to raise money for “Reach Out Worldwide”, a cause that Paul Walker had raised a substantial amount of money for.
In early December, news spread fast around the world that the Fast & Furious actor, Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Connor in the series, was pronounced dead following a serious road accident with his friend Roger Rodas. This flared a chain of events across the world with car enthusiast flocking together, hosting local meets in memory of what people are calling “an inspiration to the car enthusiast world”.
Quickly escalating from hundreds to thousands, our friends over at Santa Pod raised their hand and willingly stepped in, offering to host the event and any money gained would be donated to the “Reach Out Worldwide” charity.
Within a few days of Santa Pod releasing the information for the event, the site crashed due to the large amount of people attempting to access the site at the same time. Santa Pod mentioned via social media that they needed people to come off the site to be able to get the servers running properly as the influx of people was causing them to crash! All the tickets were sold within a few days and seeing the popularity, Santa Pod released a further 1,000 tickets the following Monday selling out almost instantly! It is expected that 13,000 people will be in attendance.
With the show being a complete sell out there are high hopes and expectations at the show, with some very incredible cars being displayed and put on the drag strip! Santa Pod have admitted that his is one of the fastest selling shows on their records.
Performance Direct will be there to show their support and will have on display one of the cars featured in Fast & Furious 6 film. An orange Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 with the Oakley Designs kit will be joining them, alongside another 2 Aventadors which will be joining the LP760-2. It is also rumoured that a McLaren P1 will also be joining the trio, but we will have to wait and see.
Take a few moments to visit the Performance Direct stand if you need an insurance quotation for your pride and joy, also don’t forget to pick up your £25 insurance voucher (valid for one year) and start saving yourself some money.
Stay tuned for a show report which will be up shortly after tomorrow’s event. See you there!
