Fans of modified vehicles interested in catching a sight of some of the most extreme and unusual cars across the length and breadth of the UK might be interested in taking a trip to this year's Modified Nationals event.
An array of customised cars will be on show for modification enthusiasts, with last year's event witnessing the unveiling of two of Europe's top show cars.
Running from Friday June 1st to Sunday June 3rd at Peterborough Arena, the event is sure to be a highlight of the year for modification nuts. It will be the UK's largest indoor and outdoor car show, where the serious business of tuning will be taken to the extreme.
Every year the Autoglym Ultimate Car Show Competition is one of the most hotly-contested events of Modified Nationals, with an array of models and designs of vehicles undergoing a significant makeover in order to put them ahead of their competition.
Some of the highlights of last year's event included a Mazda RX7, a Citroen C2 VTS, a Subaru Impreza 1994 Type RA, a Honda S2000 and many more.
The Impreza is one of the most popular cars to modify in the UK due to its already-sleek lines and imposing bodywork.
In addition, Subaru provides a range of products specifically tailored for tuning and modification enthusiasts, meaning making changes to the Impreza to create something unique can be easier than with many other models.
Meanwhile, a host of car clubs will be on hand at the event to offer hints and tips on modifications to event-goers, while the groups themselves will be competing in the annual Best Club Stand – so expect some impressive modifications to be on display.
Anyone keen to do more than simply look at the handiwork of others can get their hands dirty at the many workshops throughout the venue, where modding experts will be showing off some of the latest tricks and tips for updating standard cars to something a bit more unusual.
In addition, Autotest @ Modified Nationals is set to get event-goer's hearts racing, as participants battle it out to post the fastest time in their modified vehicles around a bespoke track.
Only 30 places are available for those who would like to have a go at beating the opposition, with entrants able to sign up in advance for £10 or for £15 on the day, although the event will be run on a strictly first come, first served basis.
The event will run from 10:00 until 16:00 BST each day, with drivers given three attempts to score their fastest time possible around the course. Penalties will be given to individuals who fail to stop on designated lines or who hit or miss out cones around the circuit.
In addition, rolling road tests will be available for anyone wishing to get a better insight into the performance of their own vehicle.
A past favourite of event-goers from recent years is also being brought back for 2012, with an exclusive indoor karting track being set up at the venue for the duration of the weekend.
The event will celebrate its tenth birthday in 2012 and as such, the party is likely to be bigger than ever in terms of crazy modifications and outlandish automotive spectacles for visitors to enjoy.
Meanwhile, after dark the event really shifts up a gear, with live DJs performing for mod enthusiasts from across the UK and further afield.
This year will see performances from Council Kids, Dub Z, Baggafilth, Vader, Juiceman, DJ RV and many more. As a result, attendees can expect an action-packed weekend of thrills and music, with thousands of modified vehicles set to be on display.
