Mercedes-Benz has been praising the new C-Class model as it releases full details and specifications for the car.
The manufacturer has already boldly stated that the car will set all new standards in the premium mid-range class, especially with the number of new technologies and exquisite design features both inside and outside of the vehicle.
With a classic, smooth, luxurious design that evokes class and high-style, the car is not only practical, agile and safe, it is also stunning in its delivery.
The all new model includes a host of innovations that will help to put it head and shoulders above its closest competition in the saloon segment.
Intelligent technical systems increase the car’s level of safety and gives the driver confidence in the drive quality and support on offer.
It comes equipped with Attention Assist as standard, surveying the inattentiveness and drowsiness of a driver, giving an alert to warn the driver if this is becoming a danger.
The Comand system navigation function is another innovative feature included in the car, with the technology alerting the driver as to where the nearest break options and stopover sites are.
Furthermore, vehicles come equipped with Attention Assist, which provides an adjustable level of sensitivity, which can inform the driver of drowsiness levels and how long it has been since they took a break.
Perhaps most impressive is the Collision Prevention Assist Plus system. This feature works from speeds as low as 5mph to 125mph and uses an autonomous braking system to prevent collisions with cars that are stopping and slowing down. It can also prevent accidents with stationary vehicles when travelling up to speeds of 31mph, as well as rear-end collisions at speeds of 25mph.
Those behind the wheel can also select the driving mode, able to choose from ‘Comfort’, ‘Eco’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport+’ settings. For those with a real taste for the bespoke, the individual mode also allows drivers to configure the vehicle to their exact needs.
Ola Källenius, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Mercedes-Benz Cars, said: “The new C-Class embodies Mercedes-Benz’s claim ‘The best or nothing’ in uncompromising style. This is immediately apparent when encountering our new Saloon for the first time, as it creates the impression that one is sitting in a higher class of automobile.
“I am sure that our customers will be delighted by the high-class appeal and agility of the new C-Class.”
Drivers are also set to be delighted with the vehicle’s practicality, in addition to the fact it can go from 0-62mph in just 7.5 seconds in the C200 variation, while providing 53.3mpg and producing just 123g of CO2 per kilometre.
For the diesel version, known as the C220 BlueTec, emissions are limited even further to 103g/km CO2, placing it in the A+ category for vehicle efficiency.
In addition to all the aforementioned electronic features to improve safety, the car also protects drivers with a range of airbags fitted in the car. This includes pelvisbags for both the front passenger and driver, newly developed windowbags, sidebags for the outer rear seats, and a kneebag for the one behind the wheel.
