Its design draws on the Mazda hazumi concept that was unveiled in Geneva in March this year, with the Mazda2 getting its own KODO – Soul of Motion design. The car also comes with a complete range of SKYACTIV technology.

There are a choice of four engines for the vehicle. One of these is a SKYACTIV-D 1.5 litre low compression clean diesel engine, which can produce 77kW/105ps and maximum torque of 200Nm. Meanwhile, it only uses 3.4/100km of fuel and its carbon dioxide emissions are roughly 89g/km.

For those who look towards the petrol variants, they will be offered the choice of three SKYACTIV-G 1.5 litre versions. These can produce between 55kW/75 ps and 85 kW/115ps and deliver fuel economy between 4.5-4.9/100km. Carbon dioxide emissions from these engines sit at 105-115g/km.

The car is front-wheel drive and powered through a five or six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission or a six-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic. These gearboxes are newly developed, compact and lightweight versions of the gearboxes supplied in other latest generation Mazdas.

Thanks to MZD Connect, this is one of the first B-segment models that can put its driver and passengers online while keeping them completely safe.
