Jeep’s sales during 2012 proved a remarkable success for the manufacturer, and the brand is already releasing details of its coming models.

What is mostly described as a “refined” design, the 2014 Jeep Compass is set to provide drivers with a much more comfortable drive, with a number of features tailored to meet the demands of customers.

According to Jeep, the upcoming Compass model will have a newly designed interior and exterior. Whoever said you can’t judge a book by its cover?

The outside has been specifically designed with updates that are intended to “move the design forward”. Jeep has revealed that on the Limited version of the vehicle, the front grille will features an enhance plated upper trim and mold-in-colour Billet Silver grille texture, while a black inner bezel will be found on the halogen headlamps.

In comparison to the 2012 model, it seems that the silver lining of the grille is one of the few changes, while the foglamps suggest the other minor change. Jeep has revealed that both the Limited and North models will see chrome fog lamp bezels.

Otherwise, the car looks relatively similar to its predecessor on the surface.

However, Jeep is hoping that customers will find the real noticeable change in the drive quality.

Jeep has said the 2014 model will have “refined on-road manners” with increased comfort and performance.

This will no doubt be helped by a new six-speed automatic transmission, provided by PowerTech

The Jeep Compass will soon see the 6F24 technology installed in the vehicle. The automatic gearbox is said to be compact, lightweight and fully electronic, and will provide the driver with smooth and precise shifting. This factor alone is set to impact the driving experience and increase the overall pleasure behind the wheel.

Added to both the 2.0 litre and 2.4 litre engine models, the transmission models will create 154 bhp and 168 bhp respectively.

The comfort of the drive is extended to the cabin, which has received a number of what Jeep describes as “tasteful” upgrades. Customers are set to welcome and appreciate the various accents and trims throughout the vehicle.

Seating finished in Dark Slate Grey leather will be found in the vehicle, with “soft-touch” materials added to the armrest and centre console lid. There has also been an update to the graphics on the instrument cluster overlay.

The 2014 Compass is also turned its attentions to more safety features. As standard the vehicle will feature front-seat-mounted side airbags, in addition to a ParkView rear backup camera, which will come as standard as part of the Limited models.

Drivers both on-road and off-road are expecting to welcome these new features, which will be added to the existing safety systems, such as multi-stage front airbags, as well as side-curtain front and rear airbags.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Brake Assist, Brake Traction Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with rough-road detection and the sophisticated Hill Start Assist system are also featured in the vehicles.

The new Compass will lead the way with a three-pronged line-up: Sport, Limited and the new North model.
