Luxury and sports car manufacturer Fisker Automotive has announced a changed to its management hierarchy, with Tom LaSorda being appointed the company's new chief executive officer and vice chairman of the board.
The move will see co-founder of the company Henrik Fisker stepping aside to become executive chairman of the firm and taking on new responsibilities for building the brand in global markets and having a greater input into the design process.<!–more–>
"We have created a new automotive company, launched a new Electric Vehicle extended range technology and brought the Fisker Karma to market successfully in a remarkably short timeframe,"
commented Mr Fisker.
"The Fisker Karma is the first car designed and engineered in America to win BBC Top Gear's prestigious Luxury Car of the Year Award, as well as numerous other accolades, and that is something of which I am immensely proud."
However, the company should be in safe hands with Mr Lasorda, as he has more than 30 years' experience working in the automotive trade for some of the biggest names in the industry, having been vice chairman of the Chrysler Group and held numerous executive positions at General Motors.
Upon accepting the position, he noted the firm is intent on sticking to its ideals of delivering stripped-back, quality, driving excellence in its vehicles, with the company now hoping to expand its links within the industry and to push on to bigger and better things in the future.
Last month, the company was celebrating a record sale for one of its earliest models – the 2006 Fisker Tramanto.
The car was sold for 172 per cent more than its asking price of £50,000 at the Lex Autolease and BCA auction in Bedford on January 10th, making it the most expensive Fisker model ever to have been bought.
