Honda will be unveiling a new concept model of its ever popular hatchback the Civic Type-R as well as its hybrid supercar the NSX at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The two cars will be making their UK debut at the festival running from June 26th to 29th, whetting the appetites of speed fans for the release of these cars in 2015.
Visitors will get a chance to take a look at the new designs for the Civic Type R, which has always been one to stand out on the roads, as well as the NSX. Among the new features that can be noticed from the off on the Civic is that the spoiler is no longer set into the back window, although it is still the location of the brake and tail lights.
The design is intended to be bold and aggressive and has been dubbed a “racing car for the road” by the design team.
Meanwhile, the NSX is going for a more modern and simple feel in its design. Yet it comes with a few edgy features that could only really be seen on a supercar and it takes on a low and wide stance.
On the inside, it has a strong driving position, great visibility and what has been titled Simple Sports Interface, meaning that the interior is not cluttered with too many extra design bits and pieces so that the driver can focus on the experience.
To begin to get a feel for these cars, Honda is also setting up a racetrack at the event so that visitors can have a go at racing remote control versions of them. There will be a live leader board and the races will be broadcast throughout the weekend and uploaded to YouTube. The winner will be awarded a celebratory wreath to give them the feel of a Formula One win.
Visitors can get involved in the racing for free, although Honda will be taking donations for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, the beneficiary for Goodwood Festival of Speed.
