Cars of days gone by, adrenaline-fuelled motor racing and a rocking selection of live music awaits visitors at this weekend’s Silverstone Classic.
From tomorrow (July 25th until July 27th), ticket holders will be treated to a range of events, including more than 1,000 valuable race cars on show, a number of racing grids from classic Formula Three to 90s GT Legends and live music from the likes of Bonnie Tyler and Canned Heat.
There will also be a range of brands representing at the event, including Grove and Dean who will be exhibiting in the trade village.
One of the big things to focus on at the event is the anniversaries of several prolific motoring brands. Of course, the event could not go by without taking note of the fact that this year is the 50th anniversary of grand prix at Silverstone.
To celebrate the occasion, the world’s largest grand prix parade will be gracing the track and shall be led by Sir Stirling Moss. During the lunch break on Sunday, the three big racing grids – FIA Masters Historic Formula One, Historic Grand Prix Cars Association Pre 1966 and Pre 1961 Grand Prix Cars – will be on display during the parade. On top of that, people who bring grand prix cars to the event will also be encouraged to take part, even if they don’t plan on racing.
As well as this, Maserati will be celebrating its centenary and Mustang will be enjoying its own 50th anniversary. Mustang have planned the arrival of 200-300 cars on Saturday lunchtime to commemorate its anniversary. Meanwhile, Maserati will be hosting a series of special races, displays and parades in honour of its centenary.
Visitors are also encouraged to take part in some of the racing grids that are on offer if they have cars that will be suited to the events. There are qualifying races on Friday morning and afternoon and then the real action will be getting underway on Saturday and Sunday.
