The first show of the season kicked off with force over the weekend with high expectations but not such a so high temperature reading! A 4am start was on the cards and as expected such an early start meant that the chill eventually worked its way into the bones.

The weather conditions gave as much variety as the cars on offer with rain, hail and sunshine all greeting the Santa Pod grounds. However, despite the wet and dreary weather, car-lovers were not discouraged and continued rolling through the gates at a steady pace.

With over 100 club stand spaces the grounds slowly but surely began to fill even though all seemed lost when the heavens opened. Bravely soldiering on through the cold and wet, the weather eventually subsided and bedlam was unleashed. Men, women and children all began rushing to the boots of their cars or to the nearest water-filling-point to begin the long process of cleaning and detailing their vehicles before the weather took another turn for the worst.

The day only hosted a few more spells of light drizzle and the odd occasion of hail stones, but once the clouds had nothing left to give, the sun began shining on the raceway and the Santa Pod team got to work drying the track for some high octane racing!

Different machines illuminated the tarmac, with friendly rivalry and record times being set the day was kicking off to a great start. However, there was still more the day had to give!

There was a variety of different prizes up for grabs from “Best of Show” to “Judges Choice” and “Best Modification”. The judges had a hard time picking winners for each category as this year competition was fierce and there were a huge number of cars, each one deserving to win the various titles.

Our friends over at Performance Direct also had the honour of picking the “Best Club Stand” winners. The decision wasn’t easy. With so many quality clubs displaying the best their members can give and with around 100 clubs to visit, the choice was difficult. Narrowing it down to a handful, the judges came to a unanimous vote and “Static Clique” were the worthy winners of the trophy and the £250 cheque – presented by none other than the Performance Direct promo girls!
