The latter is a preference thing really, but you do have the option of choosing something that’s pretty or has a more sporty appearance. If you live and work close to or in a city, there are lots of choices you can make to ensure you get yourself the perfect little runaround. We’ve picked our top five that have great performance, feel responsive and even look cool while you’re taking to the roads. If you have a city car that you think is the one, or think there’s a model that’s better than the one on our list – let us know! SEAT MiiThere’s been lots of versions of the SEAT Mii, and it’s largely been marketed towards the female market, as a limited edition was created in partnership with clothes retailer Mango. In terms of mechanics, the SEAT Mii has a similar build to the SKODA Citigo and the Volkswagen up!, both of which feature on this list. This is the magic of the VW Group, which allows the manufacturer to produce a larger range of offerings on the market.Overall, you’re likely to choose this one over the other two purely based on its appearance, it’s a great looking little car. Volkswagen up!As we said, the up! Is based on the same mechanics as the SEAT Mii, but this is the premium version. This means it’ll cost a little more but the up!’s price won’t depreciate at the same rate, which puts it out in front of the Mii.Handling feels great on the up!, the chassis feels firm and you’ll enjoy putting your foot down when you’re on country roads. Suspension is smart on this model too, you’ll feel next to no bumps on the road. Renault TwingoThe Twingo is probably the roomiest car on the list, thanks to its rear-mounted engine, which means that there’s plenty of space for both front and back-seat passengers. It’s also among the most colourful cars and there are lots of different specs that you can choose to pump up the Twingo’s appearance. There’s plenty of kit too, as even the standard model comes with a smartphone mount on the infotainment system. SKODA CitigoThe SKODA Citigo has been Autoexpress’ favourite city car for the past few years now, basically each time a new variant comes out.It seems the German manufacturer has done it again with its hatchback, which has seriously low running costs and four trim levels for you to choose from. The flagship SE L trim level has alloy wheels, heated seats, sat-nav and bluetooth – all the things you need on a daily basis. FIAT PandaThis is the largest model on our list but the FIAT Panda is a great city car to get if you have a small family. It’s not as roomy as the likes of your bigger cars like a SKODA Octavia or something similar, but the Panda feels tall and is more upright than any of the others we’ve listed. When you’re sitting in it, the Panda feels airy and it has loads of useful storage spaces, which again is great if you have kids.Choose the TwinAir petrol model for the best efficiency, as it does 67.3mpg and it’s free from road tax."},{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"BreadcrumbList","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Latest News","item":"https:\/\/smart-motoring.com\/latest-news\/#breadcrumbitem"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Cars","item":"https:\/\/smart-motoring.com\/latest-news\/\/cars\/#breadcrumbitem"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":3,"name":"City Cars – The Ultimate Guide","item":"https:\/\/smart-motoring.com\/latest-news\/cars\/city-cars-the-ultimate-guide\/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
