This Grand Convertible will be making an appearance alongside the new Mulsanne Speed sedan.Bentley chairman and chief executive officer Wolfgang Durheimer said of the Grand Convertible: \u201cThis concept demonstrates Bentley\u2019s ability to create a pinnacle convertible Grand Tourer, while embodying elegance beyond compare. With this car we combine the opulent Mulsanne experience with the full sensory indulgence of open-air touring, continuing to unite luxury and performance in new ways.\u201cWe are eagerly awaiting the response of our customers to this car. We will ensure that this car – if it reaches the roads \u2013 will be a highly exclusive, extremely limited collector\u2019s piece.\u201dThe car is Sequin Blue, which is a bespoke colour created from a single sequin that the brand got from a customer’s haute couture gown. Its bonnet and windscreen frame is finished in silver liquid metal. To contrast with the blue body, Bentley have put in a directional wheel design, which was finished by hand and polished to create a high shine.As well as looking incredibly classy, the car also boasts huge power and torque. It is powered by a 6.75 litre twin-turbo V8 engine that offers 537 PS and 1,100 Nm of torque. This same engine is used in the flagship Mulsanne and means the Grand Convertible can deliver effortless performance as well as style.Of course, the interior is also a thing of beauty and had a number of Bentley’s master craftsmen working to put it together. It contains 14 naturally tanned leather hides that are merged together with progressive-diamond quilting. The shape of the pattern on this material changes over the seats and doors. To show off the skills of Bentley’s trim specialists, bright blue is used on the seams. There is thread in the sequin blue shade that has been cross-stitched through the linen-coloured leather by hand.As well as the light hides, there is contrast from Beluga leather that has been put in around the top of the doors and extends back to the rear tonneau. This Beluga leather is framed in polished chrome.The tonneau had been used to show off the finest in Bentley craftsmanship. It has been well supplied with book-matched, mirror-finished and dark-stained Burr Walnut, which means the tonneau has the largest piece of wood veneer included that has even been applied to a Bentley. This has been fashioned entirely by hand and the size of the veneer only faces competition from that of the world’s best furniture makers.
