Aston Martin is set to unleash its quickest, most potent and fastest-accelerating roadster so far. Its new V12 Vantage S Roadster is set to be released later this year.
The vehicle is powered by a six litre V12 engine that utilises state-of-the-art Bosch engine management, providing 565 brake horsepower and 620 Nm of torque. It can reach a top speed of 201 mph and can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Aston Martin says that what really characterises the new model is its ‘supreme agility and intense excitement’. The car follows on from the V12 Vantage S Coupe, that was launched during 2013.
The car is open top and is designed so that drivers can enjoy the sound of a sports car with a lot of power behind it. To create this, Aston Martin uses its naturally aspirated V12 engine as well as an expertly tuned sports exhaust.
Its peak torque of 620 Nm can be reached at 5,570 rpm. That is not to say there is any waiting to be done for this level of power, the car reaches 510 Nm even at only 1,000 rpm. The idea that Aston Martin engineers wanted to put into practice was to deliver a ‘flatter’ but ‘fatter’ torque curve so that exceptional driveability and strong pick up through the gears could be experienced.
There are also a few changes in design; Aston Martin’s aluminium grille has been replaced with a combination of carbon fibre and titanium mesh. It also has the optional extra of getting lightweight forged alloy ten-spoke wheels.
Director of design at Aston Martin Marek Reichman explained how the V12 Vantage S Roadster delivered the ethos of the brand; of ‘power, beauty and soul.’
He said: “We believe that it is a truly exceptional sports car, with the capacity to set pulses racing just by its sound alone. The authentic appeal of its style, performance, quality and craftsmanship ensure its stands head and shoulders above others in its sector and delivers that most precious of experiences – fun – in abundance!”
