BMW’s fastest four-door ever has over 600 hp and does 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds

Once again, BMW have perfectly combined lavish luxury with breathtaking speed in their brand new M8 Competition Gran Coupe. Four full-sized seats, four doors and a ridiculous amount of power under the bonnet make this extravagant sports car both practical and exhilarating.

For the small price of just £120,935 you could have 625 hp at your feet in BMW’s fastest four-door car ever. This four-door M8 Competition is fitted with a 4.4-litre V8 engine that’s mated to a smooth and advanced eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive’s AWD system and a step on the pedal results in “instant response” from the car, according to BMW.

0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds

Yes, you can fit four in this spacious coupe but don’t let the practicality fool you. 3.2 seconds makes the M8 Competition Gran Coupe faster than a Lamborghini Murcielago, Ferrari 360 and a McLaren 540C. According to BMW, the car is “developed for the race track” which is evident with dedicated engine oil, transmission oil, engine and turbocharger coolers.

The added space in the rear of the cabin has to have come from somewhere, which is why the M8 Competition Gran Coupe is 231 mm longer than the M8 Competition. Although BMW refer to this super saloon/coupe as a four-seater, there is a third seat in the back that is recommended for use on short journeys. Sounds uncomfortable but it’s certainly nice to have it there just in case.

The boot has a capacity of 440 litres and it’ll fit a few suitcases, shopping bags or golf bags. It may not look as extravagant as the latest Lamborghini Aventador but with the speed and power that it’s packing, the only difference at the end of the day is that this BMW M8 is cheaper and more practical.

Still not special enough? How about the BMW M8 Gran Coupe First Edition?

That being said, the standard BMW M8 Gran Coupe is already special enough, marrying the luxuries of a luxury saloon with the performance of a supercar. Standard spec includes front and rear heated seats, adaptive LED headlights with high beam assistant, M exclusive HUD, four-zone climate control, driving and parking assist and BMW’s fancy virtual assistant which is basically like Apple’s Siri.
