High-end BMWs are well known for their luxury and performance. However, there’s a new contender for potentially the most unique and beguiling BMW to have ever been created; the BMW Individual M850i xDrive Coupe Night Sky is out of this world.

Dreamt up by the boffins based in Garching near Munich, the Night Sky is an extraordinary special edition model. This features the manufacturer’s best equipment, unique styling and, in this case, shards of meteorite.

It was created and released to coincide with an intense meteor shower. This took place earlier in January and lit up the night sky with shooting stars as the Earth passed briefly through the orbit of asteroid 2003 EH.

Looks that are out of this world

This one of a kind BMW has meteoritic rock used extensively within the interior. As well as a distinctive Widmanstätten surface pattern for the exterior to create a stunning and original aesthetic appeal.

Meteoritic rock adorns the whole of the centre console trim plate, the vehicle’s V8 engine start/stop button, the selector lever for the eight-speed Steptronic transmission and the touch controller for the iDrive system.

Inlays are also made of meteorite in the door sill finishers and the illuminated model badge, while the exterior has the appearance of ice crystals and metallic geometric structures. It all combines to deliver a stunning and unique sight to behold.

In terms of its appeal, the Night Sky truly is a one-off model that will take the breath away of all who see it. Just a single specimen has been created by BMW Individual, with one lucky owner yet to be named.

Interesting vehicle concept but not too sure how I feel about this. Good to see BMW pushing the boundaries, but perhaps something for the future and not just yet!
