BMW has announced its BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will debut at Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is to premier at Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019, ready for a worldwide market launch in the spring of 2020, it has been announced.
Described as “sporty, elegant, exclusive”, the vehicle is an especially design-orientated model for modern, urban drivers.
The concept of a four-door coupe has already proven successful in higher vehicle classes. When applied to the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, it is hoped this will combine dynamic charisma and expressive design with a strong degree of suitability for everyday driving.
According to BMW, the car will set new accents when it comes to individuality, aesthetics, and emotion in the premium compact segment. It does this by combining an emotive design with sportiness, as well as putting a strong emphasis on the latest innovations in operation and connectivity technology.
The model builds on cutting-edge BMW front-wheel drive architecture, and its technological developments have much in common with the new BMW 1 Series – also set to be presented to the world during 2019.
BMW is positioning the vehicle as an alternative to the classic saloon, and is targeting drivers with a penchant for sophisticated design and a self-assured look within the compact segment.
The fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and electric power consumption figures of the car have all been determined in line with the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007.
In other BMW news, an incredibly rare £250k BMW that was once the fastest-made custom car in the world has been found in a shed in London.
The M1 model was built in 1979 and customised by famous Austrian racing driver Harald Ertl in a bid to break a land speed record. Two years after the car’s creation, he succeeded, hitting 187mph in the motor using twin turbochargers.
The one-of-a-kind car has been off the market for the past 25 years, and many car enthusiasts assumed it was lost until it turned up in east London.
