Bentley’s most extravagant Continental yet! See it at Salon Privé.
If the Continental GT wasn’t good enough for you, there will soon be a fancier model called the GT Mulliner. Debuting at Salon Privé, a world-famous motor show and the UK’s most exclusive (i.e. fanciest) car show event that takes place in Oxfordshire, the new GT Mulliner takes the luxuries of the Bentley Continental GT and scales them up to levels of refinement we can only dream of.
The Continental GT Mulliner is built by Bentley’s own bespoke division, unsurprisingly called Bentley Mulliner, a division that happens to be the oldest coachbuilder in the world.
So, what makes the Mulliner version so much better than the standard Conti GT? Exclusive features include a double diamond front grille which gives the face of the already-ultra-luxurious car and even more expensive look. Furthermore, the Mulliner is sitting on huge 22” wheels, excellent for dazzling pedestrians as you roll past, featuring a part-paint, part-polish design. On top of that, the centre caps are self-levelling, just like on a Rolls Royce.
On the inside, the diamond theme continues with just under 400,000 stitches to make up the diamond quilting with each diamond having precisely 712 individual stitches and each being perfectly and meticulously aligned with the centre of the diamond. Essentially, each diamond is perfect and so overly-done that this process of flawlessness took 18 months to develop alone.
Carefully placed all around the car are Mulliner branding, found on the front by the grille, on the door openings and of course, included in the form of Mulliner Welcome Lamps, or to the less fancy folk, puddle lights.
The Bentley Continental GT Mulliner also boasts a great range of customisability. For the interior, there are 8 different three-colour combinations that are ‘proposed’ to potential buyers but if none of them takes their fancy they can, of course, ask for a bespoke combo. The three-colour split is also exclusive to the Conti GT Mulliner and is made up of a primary and secondary hide with a tertiary colour in the form of a flowing design line.
Even the roof lining of the cabin is extra posh, with full length with indented hide or non-indented to match it with the rear seats if the customer options a fixed glass roof.
The centre console is, you guessed it, a diamond-milled finish and houses the Breitling clock, centre console and complements the Grand Black walnut veneer found on the rest of the dashboard trim.
Engine-wise (the fun stuff!), the Continental GT Mulliner is available with Bentley’s famous 6.0-litre W12 powertrain, offering 626 bhp, or a smaller and less brutish and more refined 4.0-litre V8 offering 542 bhp.
