Audi has revealed a rather exceptional beast at this year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas: the Audi TT Clubsport Turbo concept.
It’s an insane one-off coupe that has been cranked up to eleven, making it perfect for the typically extreme SEMA Show – the world’s premier automotive specialty products trade event that typically attracts the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products with the most off-the-hook tuned cars.
The car references the Audi 90 IMSA GTO race car from the ’80s, with square-shouldered arches and ’80s-esque Audi Sport stripe graphics. This concept is actually an updated version of one from 2015, but the 2017 take incorporates an electric turbo to provide a hearty boost.
Under the bonnet is the same 2.5-litre five-pot TFSI petrol engine you’ll find in the TT RS. However, it benefits from an electrically assisted bi-turbo system to lift its total power output to 592bhp, which is sent to all four wheels (rather than just the front wheels as in the standard TT).
This means it can do 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 193mph. That’s even quicker than the original R8. Ooof!
Just to outline how unhinged the Audi TT Clubsport Turbo concept is, its box arches are 5.5 inches wider than those of any regular TT you’ll find sat in your local Audi showroom.
Its giant carbon fibre reinforced polymer rear wing is manually adjustable, which gives it some aerodynamic grip to complement the mechanical traction available.
Not does it sound amazing to drive, those bold red stripes and sleek black accents make it delicious to look at too.
