Aston Martin has an envious connection with the James Bond movie franchise dating all the way back to 1964’s Goldfinger with the Aston Martin DB5 sharing the spotlight with Sean Connery.

In 2015 the manufacturer celebrated this connection with the fantastic DB9 GT 007 Bond Edition. This year the company announced a partnership with EON Productions that would result in a gadget-filled replica of the early Bond DB5, limited to just 25 models at a whopping £2.75 million each. Who are TRASCO?

But what do you do if you are a real secret agent and need real protection? Well, the answer lies in a German company called TRASCO Bremen GmBH, which offers the ability to have your precious luxurious car militarised with some state-of-the-art bulletproofing. The company has built protection into the vehicles of various heads of states along with working with defence ministries around the world – fine credentials.

TRASCO usually gets commissioned to bullet-proof the usual range of luxury automobiles like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and S-Class along with various Lexus (‘or Lexae’ if you are familiar with Alan Partridge!) and Audi models and of course, Cadillac’s.

Here TRASCO has taken on a project with much more kerb appeal and glamour; an armoured Aston Martin DB11. TRASCO has equipped this particular vehicle with their Level 4 armouring, which is enough to protect you from theft, car jacking and shots fired from handguns. Just take a look at that image showing the thickness of the protected applied to front side glass if you’re in any doubt.

While you might expect that such bulletproofing might increase the weight of a donor vehicle detrimentally, the armoured DB11 has had its weight increased by only 150kg thanks to the technically advanced use of composite materials and more traditional ballistic steel – all materials have passed the required ballistic tests according to the requirements of TRASCO’s certified suppliers like Union Stahl and Sully Saint Gobain.

If the extra weight (albeit surely reasonable for such protection) concerns you, then you can relax – the 600bhp that the DB11 offers surely allows you to still speed away from any threat before your attacker realises the need for more powerful arms.

This TRASCO Aston Martin is arguably the gritty Daniel Craig manifestation of a James Bond car compared to the recent limited edition DB5, which must surely sit firmly in the nostalgic, tongue-in-cheek Connery era Bond version.
