Alfa Romeo recently revealed a series of updates being made to their Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV. The updates see the exterior and interior of both vehicles undergo several design changes, as well as the addition of some exciting new tech-centric tricks.

Eagle-eyed inspectors will have immediately spotted the new front ends. Both vehicles now sport Alfa Romeo’s ‘3+3’ headlight design, similar to what we have seen on the Tonale. This updated design is more than just a visual refresh. The three modules making up each headlight have an integrated Adaptive Lighting System which sees the beamed headlights adjusted based on vehicle speed and driving conditions.

They also feature Glare-Free High Beam Segmented Technology which detects traffic and modifies lighting accordingly, such that oncoming drivers are not blinded. Collectively these updates contribute to greater efficiency from an energy-saving perspective and ensure improved safety thanks to the reduced strain on drivers’ eyes in trickier driving conditions.

Inside, both vehicles are now kitted out with reimagined instrument panels utilising fully digital 12.3-inch TFT screens. The instrument cluster also has three different layout configurations, titled Evolved, Relax, and Heritage.

The first of this trio uses the central area of the screen, with a focus on the future of Alfa Romeo design. Relax removes overly detailed information from the screen, focusing on providing drivers with a clutter-free and comfortable experience. Finally, Heritage dips into the brand’s past with the addition of specific detailing inspired by models from the 60s and 70s.

One of the other changes outlined by Alfa Romeo includes the extensive use of materials like aluminium and carbon throughout the construction of each vehicle, namely for the base of the engine and the drive shaft. This is something they say has been adopted from the world of racing and contributes to the sporty, dynamic behaviour of each vehicle.

In keeping with what seems to be the latest trend for every company on the planet, Alfa Romeo has also integrated NFTs into the Giulia and Stelvio. The Italian automaker has already dabbled with the new technology in the Tonale and is keen to continue using it for future releases. In short, NFT certificates storing essential vehicle information will be generated for new Giulia and Stelvio owners. The certificate aims to act as a reliable source of verification when buying or selling a vehicle.

Alfa Romeo has kept the release strategy for these vehicles simple, offering two distinctive trims of each car titled Sprint and Veloce. The Sprint variant is the base model, and the Veloce builds upon this with some performance enhancements. The Giulia will be made available with a rear-wheel drive 280hp petrol engine, whilst the Stelvio is available with a 280hp petrol or 210hp diesel engine, both being all-wheel drives.

Alfa Romeo has stated that the new Giulia and Stelvio will arrive in the first quarter of 2023.
