Introducing Spartan: The All-New, Road-Legal Track-Day Car

We’re excited to share that Spartan, a new open-top track-day car, has arrived in the UK after over a decade of development in Australia. This sleek, carbon fibre body is a tribute to the iconic Can-Am racers of the 1960s and boasts a weight of less than 20kg.

But don’t be fooled by its lightness – the Spartan is engineered to exceed FIA safety regulations and comes equipped with double-wishbone suspension and pre-programmable semi-active TracTive dampers at each end. The car can weigh as little as 670kg depending on the configuration.

Under the hood, the mid-mounted transverse Honda K24 four-cylinder engine produces 275bhp in naturally aspirated form, but with a Rotrex centrifugal supercharger, the output can reach ‘400bhp-plus.’ The car is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox from Honda, but for the full motorsport experience, a six-speed sequential gearbox by Quaife can be fitted. The Spartan also offers a choice of brakes and is fitted with Tillett carbon fibre bucket seats and six-point harnesses.

The Spartan’s semi-slick tyres allow it to reach 62mph in just 2.5 seconds in a 700kg supercharged guise, with the naturally aspirated car taking 3.3 seconds. With a top speed of over 155mph, the car generates nearly 470kg of downforce at its highest speed, thanks to its front splitter, rear diffuser, and sizeable wing. The car’s aerodynamic balance can be adjusted to suit the track layout, weather, and handling preferences.

The Spartan is highly customizable, with an interchangeable driving position and a body that can be made of fibreglass. The car also has relatively low running costs in relation to its speed and specialist nature.

Le Mans Coupes, based in Surrey, is the sole UK importer of the Spartan, which has a starting price of £126,000. With plans to produce 300 cars in the series, the Spartan is a more attainable option than some of its blue-blooded counterparts, such as the Dallara Stradale, while still being a touch more expensive than the Radical Rapture.
