With cars like the 2,000hp Lotus Evija and ultra-cool Audi and Mercedes EVs coming soon, this year will be a good year for electric car enthusiasts, or even those looking for reasons to respect electricity as a means of powering a car.From fast and furious (and expensive) to more affordable options, here are 5 EVs we expect to see this year that are worth getting excited about.Lotus EvijaThe Evija (evv-eye-ahh) is unlike any Lotus of the last 20 years. Its design is incredibly bold, its powered by electricity, produces a staggering amount of power and has an eye-watering price. Only 130 will be built, each with a base price of around £2.4 million and a deposit of £250,000.The Evija will be Britain’s first entry into the electric hypercar market and has successfully caught the eye of the world, with ridiculous power figures, an unbelievable price tag and a truly stunning design. No doubt elevating the Lotus brand to new heights, the Evija is set to see first deliveries arrive in mid-2021.With claims of being the most powerful production car ever and 0-62mph times of under 3 seconds, how can one not be excited to see this thing put through its paces?Audi RS e-tron GTSet to go on sale this Spring, we’re very excited to see more of the Audi e-tron GT and even more excited for its RS counterpart.We’ve already seen the SUV sibling of this EV which is just called the ‘Audi e-tron’ but if you would rather walk than drive an SUV, the e-tron GT is what you should be looking at.The RS e-tron GT is a sleek, stylish coupe with some performance figures to rival the top Teslas. 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds and a standing ¼ mile in just 10.9 seconds. Not bad at all for a luxury 4-seater.You may recognise its streamlined silhouette and space-age rear lights from Avengers: Endgame where the concept appeared and wowed us all. Well this year, we hope to see all of its 650hp put to the test, as well as a proper look at the interior styling.Mercedes-Benz EQAThe EQA is set to be revealed any day now with hints at a January unveiling. So far, we know that this electric take on the GLA will have entry models sitting at around 190hp and scale up to a 272hp AWD model at the top of the range. Speaking of range, this Mercedes-Benz crossover will have a range of around 250 miles.Details are sparse but we have been shown the EQA concept which is said to be not too far off from the production model. Featuring a highly-futuristic design with ultra-cool lights around the front and soft, smooth body lines, the EQA’s aesthetic will likely cause quite the scene upon release, with it set to be available to order before the end of the year.Skoda Enyaq iVBecoming available for purchase early this year, the Skoda Enyaq iV is probably the best-looking car in their entire portfolio. Sure, it’s a large SUV but its also incredibly good looking and features a feel of luxury you certainly wouldn’t expect in a Skoda.Black accents on the grille, window trim, wing mirrors and roof rails complement the large alloy wheels and angular contours around the car. It’s large but this is clearly designed to be a sporty SUV and it certainly looks the part. Prices start at around £33,000 which isn’t all too bad considering how much car you’re getting.Mustang Mach-E GTAlthough deliveries started in December, we’re still excited to see more Mach-E’s on the road in 2021. The new controversially-named ‘Mustang’ is here whether you like it or not and we can’t wait to start seeing more in the wild.At the end of this year, we’re set to be treated with the arrival of the Mach-E GT, said to be faster than all other electric SUVs apart from the Tesla Model X, in terms of acceleration. Producing around 460hp, the Mach-E GT will be capable of achieving a 0-62mph sprint in just 3.7 seconds.Over the standard Mach-E, the GT variant will have bespoke 20-inch alloys, adaptive suspension as standard and exclusive Cyber Orange and Grabber Blue paint colours. Perhaps this variant of the Mach-E will do the ‘Mustang’ name more justice.Let us know which EVs you’re excited for in 2021, in the comments.If you enjoyed this, you may also like ‘Tesla Now Worth More Than 10 Biggest Automakers, Combined’"},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
5 Exciting Electric Cars For 2021
https://smart-motoring.com/latest-news/5-electric-cars-were-really-excited-for-in-2021/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
