Here are 5 you probably don’t know about. You stare at them drive past, you study their 0-60 times, you watch compilations on YouTube of them and most importantly, you wince at their price tags. Supercars are a big part of what makes the automotive industry so interesting. They’re fast, sexy, luxurious and totally unaffordable! We’ve all heard of the McLaren 720s and the new Ferrari Roma but if you’re looking to gain some niche knowledge on supercars no one really knows about, you’re in the right place. Here are five supercars you likely haven’t heard of and why they’re cool:1. Keating BoltBritain is known for Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce but one manufacturer has slipped under the radar and that’s Keating. Based in Bolton, Keating produces low-volume kit cars with the aim to sell around 30 of them each year.Founded relatively recently in 2006, the company have made five different models so far. So, why is the Bolt so cool? Well, it’s a lot lighter than other cars with similar power, weighing just 1,200kg but producing around 2,500hp when fitted with its most powerful setup, a twin-turbo 7.0-litre V8! Furthermore, it is allegedly capable of speeds in excess of 300mph.The main reason the car was picked up on in the press is due to the outrageous claim that the Bolt could achieve 340mph and 6 years later, here we are with still no proof of that being true! Still, certainly, an interesting story, even if that’s all it is.2. TramontanaLike an ugly F1 car, the Tramontana is certainly guaranteed to turn heads. First released in 2007 by a Spanish company called Advanced Design Tramontana, the Tramontana has around 888 horsepower thanks to a hearty 5.5-litre V12 twin-turbo engine.Like a Formula One car, the Tramontana has a central cockpit, exposed wheels and is RWD. Created by a Royal College of Art graduate, this unusual supercar was built with a vision to be a unique supercar and it’s pretty clear that the vision was achieved. However, it’s more than just a pretty face with a carbon fibre chassis and fully adjustable Ohlins horizontal dampers.3. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003With a name like that, how could you remember it? This highly exclusive, highly expensive ($2 million) supercar looks like the Ferrari Enzo mixed with the McLaren Senna. Kitted with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing over 750bhp, this is up in the same leagues as the McLarens, Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the world.Even more impressive are the performance stats. The SCG003 is capable of speeds over 217mph, produces 700kg of downforce at 155mph and can do 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds. Not bad for a car made back in 2014 although let’s not forget the price…4. Jaguar XJ13You may know about the XJ220, the Jaguar supercar that never made it to production, but what about the XJ13? Similar to the XJ220, the classic XJ13 from the 60s also never made it to production with only one being built.Created to compete in Le Mans, this poor old beaut never saw a day at the races due it taking too long to complete. The project was put off so Jaguar could focus on the XJ6 and by the time the project was picked back up, the XJ13 had become obsolete when compared to similar race cars.Featuring a gorgeous aerodynamic design and a 502 bhp, 5-litre V12 engine this Jag could have put the British company on the map as a supercar manufacturer.5. Shayton EquilibriumA lot of modern supercars that you haven’t heard of are usually not all that pretty, which cannot be said for the Equilibrium. Built by a Slovenian company with big ambitions to become “the hyper-car brand of the 21st Century”, the Equilibrium is powered by a V12 producing nearly 1100hp.It’s also claimed to hit 250mph but we’ll never know just how true that is until they actually make the thing! Designed back in 2011, it’s probably fair to assume that this supercar may never be made at all but saying that, they are still seeking investment so it could one day materialise.Do you know of any niche supercars that others haven’t heard of?
