These cars have the quickest convertible roofs available, perfect for the Summer!

For all 15 days of British Summer sunshine that we’re granted each year, you’re guaranteed that there’ll be plenty of convertibles on the roads, all with their tops down.

However, when the weather inevitably turns and the rain pours down on you like a biblical reckoning, the question is whether or not that rain is going to reach all your expensive electrical instruments or even worse, get your hair wet.

Well, these scenarios were likely thought of when these five convertibles with the quickest roof operation were developed. Although it’s nice to have a nice interior, powerful engine, all the latest features, a quick 0-60 mph time and so on, some people are also interested in how quickly the roof can fold down and up. It’s great for showing off, protecting yourself from the rain in a hurry or putting the roof down at a set of traffic lights. Here are 5 of the quickest convertible roofs:

Audi TT Roadster (2014-present)

The Audi TT is a very popular sports car but it’s not so often that you see a TT Roadster. Audi stripped out the back seats and added a soft-top convertible roof which just so happens to be capable of full roof operation in just 10 seconds. Just another reason why it’ll be a shame once the TT will stop being produced in 2022.

VW Beetle Convertible (2011-2019)

Impressively, the Beetle Convertible is the most affordable car on this list and despite costing far less than half as much as other cars here, its roof operation is of similar quickness. Capable to be fully folded down in just 9.5 seconds is impressive given the price point and also give that it’s a 4-seat vehicle.

Porsche 718 Boxster (2016-present)

Things start getting expensive with car number three. In just nine seconds, the roof can be down on your beautiful 718 Boxster, although you won’t have the practicality of having four seats. Although the Boxster may not have the same pedigree and performance as a 911, the roof is 3 seconds quicker!

Ford Mustang Convertible (2015-present)

Although the Mustang Convertible does technically have four seats, it’s more of a 2+2 setup with the rear seats only really suitable for children. That being said, a roof operation time of just 7 seconds is mighty impressive, if you can justify forgoing the sleek hardtop roofline of the fixed-roof Mustang.

Aston Martin Vantage Roadster (2018-present)

By far the most expensive car on the list, you would expect all aspects of the Vantage Roadster to be superior, including how quickly the roof can go up and down. In just 6.7 seconds the roof can either disappear or reappear, depending on the weather. However, at a price of over £120,000, you would expect just as much!
