Leicester City FC might have lost the Community Shield to Manchester United on Sunday, however the players won’t be down for too long as they have all received brand new BMW i8’s from their Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha for their fairy tale title triumph last season.
At £104,500 each, Srivaddhanaprabha spent almost £3 million on the 19 hybrid supercars.
The image below, posted by the a Leicester City fan page on twitter shows the fleet of 19, 2016 BMW i8’s waiting to be collected by the players.
This is not the first act of tremendous generosity from the Thai billionaire, last season Srivaddhanaprabha often offered Leicester fans free drinks and pies at a number of home matches, no doubt aiding towards the incredible atmosphere generated at every match that took place at the King Power Stadium.
The BMW i8 has petrol and electric powered engines, working together to create 357bhp, which means it can reach 0-62mph in under 4.5 seconds whilst reaching a top speed of 155mph.
However manager; Claudio Ranieri says that he’s still waiting for his car to arrive with uncertainty that he’ll even receive one, sorry Claudio!
We should get used to seeing players such as; Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez arriving to matches in matching cars. The owners of Leicester will no doubt be hoping that these presents can inspire their players to another unlikely title triumph, can they do it again? We certainly hope so.
