We may be in the thick of a standard British summer, but SUVs are being notably gloomy this week.
First, we had the outrageous Black Fire BMW X5M and X6M, and now, it’s the Honda HR-V and CR-V’s turn to get all moody and dark with their respective Black Edition models.
This means the HR-V can now come with noir detailing on the running boards, skid plates, front grille, mirror caps and 18-inch alloys, in addition to everything included on the standard SE model.
Inside, the interior also boasts some plush touches, such as special edition leather and carpets.
Honda’s SUVs pride themselves on their affordability and that remains the case with these special edition models.
The entry-level 1.5-litre i-VTEC manual HR-V rings in at £25k on the road, which works out at £239 a month with zero per cent APR representative and five years’ free servicing thrown in.
Alternatively, you could go for the £26,210 automatic CVT model (we wouldn’t – auto Hondas are notoriously rubbish), or the manual diesel for £26,820.
Meanwhile, opting for the Black Edition CR-V – the HR-V’s larger sibling – is a similar deal, with black running boards, tailgate spoiler, front grille and skid plates, but 19-inch black alloys this time.
The interior comes with high-quality full leather interior features, including contrasting stitching with an embossed Black Edition logo on the front and rear seats, while the door panels and arm rests are finished in black leather. This premium interior is capped off with Black Edition-logoed mats.
Honda UK managing director Dave Hodgetts commented: “Both the HR-V and CR-V are much loved by customers, and the CR-V Black Edition has gone down extremely well with those looking for something a little more distinctive and individual along with some nice premium touches.”
The Black Edition HR-V is set to hit forecourts over the next few weeks, while the CR-V equivalent is available now.
