Following on from the Vanquish Zagato Volante drop-top, revealed in August 2016, Aston will introduce a roofless Speedster version and a spectacular Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake.

Production will be capped at 325 cars, split between 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 99 Shooting Brakes and 28 Speedsters. Anyone who fancied getting hold of one will be disappointed because they’ve all been sold already.

All four cars are based upon the Vanquish S, which means each Zagato is powered by a 591bhp naturally-aspirated V12 engine, mated to the smooth, slick-shifting Touchtronic III transmission.

Adaptive damping is fine-tuned for each model to achieve an exceptional driving pleasure that is every bit as stimulating and memorable as the aesthetic design.

Every inch of the Vanquish Zagato’s exterior is carbon fibre while details, such as the Vulcan-inspired ‘Blade’ tail lights and repeated 3D Zagato ‘Z’ motifs in the front grille and rear vent meshes, create an unbroken stylistic thread that connects these otherwise individual creations.

Aston describes the Speedster “an uncompromising roofless design that expresses the raw excitement of an open-top ultra-high performance sports car”. Meanwhile the Shooting Brake is still a two-seater, but it incorporates elements of a exceptionally practical GT.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s chief creative officer, explained the thinking behind offering a family of Zagato models.

“Many of our customers want different things. Some prefer the purity of a Coupe, but others love the idea of something more extreme, like the Speedster. And yes, some of them have ordered one example of each,” he said.

Mr Reichman said there was so much demand for the Zagato cars but production was limited to keep them ‘collectibles, future concours cars’. “They are still the rarest of the rare,” he concluded.
