This weekend went on record as the hottest weekend of the year so far and we couldn’t agree more! With everything from shoulders to tyres burning, Sunday was full of amazing vehicles from all across the globe, covering a range of different eras.
Retro Show attracts all kinds of weird and wonderful creations and restorations, none more so than this Nissan Sunny. Believe it or not this car started out as the owners grandmother’s daily driver until it was passed into his hands to slowly be changed. Like women who undergo cosmetic surgery, it can become addictive, and this car has seen a fair few changes in the past few years!
All shows at Santa Pod Raceway have this chilled out atmosphere which is very different to the morning chaos of getting through the gates. Even the Performance Direct promo girls take their time out to have a bit of a play about on a drift-trike!
This gent clearly couldn’t resist getting a picture with the Performance Direct girls, Emily & Sarah!
Rusted E36 3-Series looking, rusty? This look is catching on somewhat here in the UK and more cars from different manufacturers are being taken in and assaulted with an angle grinder to take back the paint, letting nature do its thing!
This old Clubman Estate just looked mean! Wide-arch kit all-round, tucking in the rather wide wheels. A matte grey paint job and matte black roof top it off!
The Skydat GTR was also present on the day, take a guess as to what it is? Well, if you said it’s a Nissan Skyline R-34 chassis with a Datsun 120Y shell then you guessed correctly. After speaking with the owner a few shows back I also found out that the engine is packing an astonishingly healthy 1,200BHP.
Possibly the weirdest filming contraption I have seen thus far – this guy clearly couldn’t get enough of Sarah & Emily, I don’t blame him!
Retrobeutes Car Club where the lucky winners of the Performance Direct Best Club Stand award for a lovely £250. That can be spent on whatever they wish, personally I reckon they blew it all on water to just keep going on the day.
Here are the track action shots:
So much power it hurts!
Never thought I would see a Fiesta do a wheelie – I have now. Jaw dropping.
Another car I thought I would never see hit the drag strip was this – Rolls RoyceSilver Wraith. No words can describe how amazing this thing was!
And finally the rest of the show:
