Bug Jam is back and it did not disappoint! From the 24-hour entertainment to The Drag competitions, Rust and Rat and Show and Shine shows, there was something for every Bug Jammer around.
Santa Pod Raceway was bursting with some amazing Volkswagens, and a tractor! That’s right, even a tractor, although it was packing a 1200 beetle engine which won the judge’s choice for the Rust and Rat competition.
The Show and Shine paddock was packed full of all the classics we like to see. The Best Original went to Peter Harvey and his ‘58 VW Beetle which had all original panels, had never been welded, all original interior and had only done 42,000 miles!
The RWYB (Run What You Brung) competition saw owners take to the track to try and beat their fastest times. Neil Payne came in first with an amazing 12.5152s at 105.52mph. Race classes for the National Drag Racing Championships included: Volkswagen Sportsman, Volkswagen Pro, Euro Funny Car Series, Street Eliminator, Outlaw Anglia, and Sportsman ET.
The fun didn’t stop there! I was excited to see all of the bands and singers that were lined up to perform on stage. My favourites had to be The Pigeon Detectives, the crowd were going wild! The comedians had everyone in fits of laughter and the DJs got everyone up on the dance floor. We hit the table tennis and air hockey competitions but lost out to Aidan who won and Mitchell Hulse who won the air hockey.
Performance Direct girls Michelle and Katie also made a cheeky appearance for this weekends show!
The Live Action Arena was another favourite of mine, with amazing performances from Monster Truck entertainers; Swamp Thing, and Ricardo Domingos who travelled all the way from Portugal to show us his motor and quad bike stunts, and many, many more.
This year proved to be as mind blowing as the last, and we can’t wait for next year!
