It has been revealed that the title of this year’s festival is ‘Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power’ and we have to admit, we’re very excited to see what the event has in store.

As 2016 marks the centenary of BMW, they will be the featured brand with their own dedicated sculpture that sits pride of place in front of Goodwood House.

This will be designed by the wonderfully talented Gerry Judah, as has been the tradition for 19 years, and these creations are always spectacular; the 328 Mille Miglia Roadster, the 1999 BMW V12 LMR and Brabham-BMW BT52 will all feature in this year’s design, a great selection for such an important occasion.

The event, which this year is being held from 24th – 26th June, will see a whole host of iconic BMW’s heading up the hill and there have been many notable drivers announced too, including F1 legend Jenson Button, Le Mans winner Richard Attwood, star of Rallycross Ken Block and many more!

For such a massive celebration of motorsport, it comes as no surprise that there will be a number of car manufacturers debuting their latest products at the ‘Moving Motor Show’ on the 23rd June where visitors to the event get a chance to sit behind the wheel as cars make their way up the hill.

Mazda, Mercedes and Honda promise the British public an exclusive first look and whatever it is they have planned for us, it’s sure to be worth the wait.

The festival will see the UK debut of BMW’s M4 GTS and the Mini Seven will also be on display; this model is a clever fusion of modern and classic design with a name inspired by the Austin Seven of 1959.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016 is set to be an amazing celebration of cars from the past, present and future of motorsport and it just so happens to be a year of many anniversaries; 100 years of BMW and Indianapolis 500, 50 years since the first Can-Am Championship and Sir Jack Brabham’s F1 World Championship win (in a car with his own name) and 40 years since James Hunt won the F1 World Championship.

There are so many reasons to celebrate this year and with a focus on our planet’s obsession with speed, it’s going to be a thrilling couple of days for everyone lucky enough to have a ticket!
