But, fortunately, there’s always the first international car show of the year to brush away the January blues.We’ve already told you about the most UK-relevant cars set to appear at the show, but now the doors are open and everything has been revealed, we can tell you more about the most exciting cars at 2018’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).Mercedes-Benz G-ClassThe bulky, blocky exterior remains the same, but Merc’s iconic terrain-conquering SUV is longer and wider than before, allowing for a more comfortable and spacious interior.Previously, very little would stand in the way of the G-Class and now there are even fewer obstacles because it is said to be even more capable on and off the road than the outgoing model.It’ll be available to order in the UK from March, with deliveries from August. The range will comprise solely of the G 63 at first, but the 350d diesel will join it next year.Mercedes also used its NAIAS headline appearance to show off 53-series models of the CLS and E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet.Ford Mustang BullittThe Mustang and Steve McQueen’s Bullitt are two of the most iconic things in motoring history and they’ve been combined to create a very special edition car to celebrate Bullitt’s 50th anniversary.Due out this summer, the Ford Mustang Bullitt uses a five-litre V8 engine with 474bhp to reach speeds of up to 163mph.It’ll include some styling touches as a nod to the film, such as a white cue ball shift knob, while stripes, spoilers and badges have all intentionally been kept to a minimum. There are only two paint options too – shadow black and the classic Dark Highland Green, as seen in the movie.Sadly, it’ll only be available in North America, so dream on.Ford Edge STSticking the ST badge on anything is sure to attract attention (the ST variants of the Fiesta and Focus continue to enjoy immense success) and the Edge SUV is the latest Ford model to undergo the ST treatment.It’ll use a 335bhp 2.7-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost engine, linked to an eight-speed auto gearbox, to become what Ford describes as “a performance SUV with a track mentality”.There’s a new Sport Mode that allows drivers to experience more aggressive throttle response and shifting patterns and a more resonant exhaust tone.You’ll be able to spot the Edge ST by its new front and rear styling, wide mesh grille for optimal cooling, deep side skirts, dual-exhaust outlets and unique 21-inch wheels.A revised Edge will make it to the UK and Europe, but for now, Ford is restricting the ST version to the US.Infiniti Q InspirationWhat can we expect from the next wave of Infiniti cars? Well, the Q Inspiration provided plenty of hints.The concept showcases an innovative powertrain that, according to Infiniti, “combines turbocharged petrol power with the torque and efficiency of a hybrid or diesel engine”.It also parades some autonomous drive technologies and a human-centric interior, intended to enrich driver experience in the mid-sized saloon segment."},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
