Vauxhall recently announced a special 40th Anniversary Edition of the Corsa-e. The release celebrates 40 years since the first Corsa (badged Nova) was released back in 1982. Since then, the Corsa has gone on to have massive success, with more than 2 million sold in the UK to date. This celebratory edition is built on the GS Line Corsa-e and will be a part of Vauxhall’s ever-growing EV line-up.
The Anniversary Edition brings with it a selection of exterior modifications. It comes coated in a stunning ‘Record Red’ metallic paint finish, which is said to be inspired by the Carmine Red finish of the original Nova. A black grille sits at the front, alongside blacked-out Vauxhall Griffin badges at both ends of the vehicle and the word ‘Corsa’ lettered across the rear tailgate. The new Corsa also has 17-inch alloy wheels that come in a glossy black finish with grey inserts. This marriage of black and red looks clean and gives Corsa fans an exciting new alternative to the ‘Hot Red’ colour that the standard GS Line Corsa-e offers.
The interior of the Anniversary Edition includes a reimagined version of the Nova’s classic tartan seats. A host of driver assistance features come fitted as standard, including speed sign warning, blind-spot alert, and an 18-degree panoramic rear-view camera. A comfortable, high-quality driving experience is also ensured with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and heated folding electric door mirrors. That’s a lot of heat!
It also has a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, both of which are inherited from the GS Line. The inside is topped off with a sleek black dashboard strip and a small plate highlighting 40 years of Corsa heritage, as well as what looks like the vehicle’s unit number out of 1000.
The Anniversary Edition is equipped with a 50kWh battery powering a 100kW electric motor. The battery reportedly allows for up to 222 miles of range (WLTP) on a single charge, with 80% of the battery capable of being charged in just 30 minutes.
And to sweeten the deal, each vehicle comes with a box of tartan collector’s socks. As you can probably guess, these are inspired by the chequered interior found in both the new Corsa-e Anniversary Edition and the original 1980s Nova.
The new Corsa-e 40th Anniversary Edition is priced at £31,000 OTR, with 1,000 units in the UK available exclusively online.
