It looks modern in the sense that we now know that it is modern.Lancia YpsilonThe Lancia Ypsilon is one of the best-selling cars in Italy and this will be the one of the new Lancia EV models to shortly appear. It will be redesigned as a very low-slung car, and one you might not initially expect to be termed a hatchback. Low slung probably means that the demographic here is clearly the younger family – or at the very least those without a bad back. The Ypsilon will sit on a chassis based on the eCMP (Common Modular Platform) that is also part of more conventional vehicles like the Jeep Avenger and the Peugeot 208.The new advanced platform is to be called the STLA Medium, which is in fact what many of the forthcoming range of Italian vehicles will sit on.The platform can contain either (twin motor) 4-wheel drive or front-wheel drive vehicles. Eventually, a rear-wheel drive STLA option is sure to be revealed, which will certainly allow Alfa Romeo to continue with some sort of tradition into their electric car future.Maybe more interestingly is the general range advancement that STLA allows, with a potential offering of at least 435 miles. Certainly, in many European countries, a regular production range which is getting ever closer to what will no doubt be marked as a ‘halcyon 500-mile range’ is interesting and will allay all those initial fears of running out of juice halfway through your journey.Fears that still linger but are fast becoming obsolete. In any case, the STLA platform will produce around 4.4 miles per kWh from a potential 98kWh battery.Lancia Aurelia, Gamma and Delta ModelsThe likely first Lancia to launch with the STLA Medium will be Aurelia SUV in approximately 3 years’ time. Another low-slung motor, the Aurelia is intriguingly being described as a cross between an SUV and a coupé.Let’s not forget the popular Delta model; the revamped Delta is likely to hit production in 2028. Following this, and all being well, Lancia will provide us with the final vehicle in this set; the Gamma, which is quite a way off towards 2030.The Gamma is very likely to provide the luxury at the top of the previous workhorse/more utilitarian Lancia models.Renaissance Plan Lancia Renaissance begins with a concept and a strategic plan that will now encompass the next ten years or so.Even Lancia showrooms are to be given a freshening up, with the idea that they come across as ‘genuine living rooms, as elegant and welcoming lounges’ – let’s hope the STLA vehicles match the décor.Electric Car News And ReviewsWant to stay updated on everything electric cars?
