Porsche has unveiled a colourful set of special-edition 718 Caymans and Boxsters, which they have called the Style Editions.
From a visual perspective, the German automaker has placed an emphasis on the idea of contrast, which is immediately noticeable when we examine the colour palettes on offer.
The first sees Ruby Star Neo – a modern reimagining of the Ruby Star colour available on the 911 Carrera RS of the 90s – strikingly juxtaposed against white detailing on the bonnet, rear, and wheels. The Black contrast package – slightly less flamboyant but gorgeous nonetheless sees sleek blacks pitted against moody Arctic Greys, tapping into the themes of contrast in a more subtle fashion.
Beyond the new colour options, these new models have several distinctive design features that make them instantly distinguishable from standard models. Both use glossy black 20- inch 718 Spyder wheels, with the wheel hub covers on the centre of each wheel proudly displaying the iconic Porsche crest. At the rear, the black sports tailpipes and silver ‘Porsche’ lettering act as clear Style Edition definers. The new Boxster Style Edition also has an electric fabric hood (available in either black or red) which features an embossed ‘Boxster’ signature, visible when the hood is opened or closed.
Under the hood, both models are powered by the same turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre boxer engine as the base 718 Boxster and Cayman. They are coupled with a six-speed manual transmission as standard and can sprint from 0 to 100km/hour in 5.1 seconds. Both vehicles also have a top speed of 275km/hour.
It would be amiss for these releases to bear the title of Style Edition without the interior being appropriately decked out. Each model comes with a leather package which sees the cabin donned in black leather upholstery with chalk-coloured contrast stitching, as well as door sill panels finished in stainless steel. This is topped off with the Porsche crest stylishly embossed on the headrests.
The multifunction steering wheel is engulfed in heated leather, with this heating functionality extended to the three-stage adjustable sports seats. ParkAssist has been made available at the front and rear, which alongside the reversing camera, aids in making those trickier driving and parking manoeuvres slightly easier. Riders will also benefit from twozone automatic air-conditioning and Apple CarPlay functionality.
The Cayman style edition starts at £51,600, whilst the Boxer variant is slightly pricier at £53,600. Both vehicles are available to order now.
