Nissan has often provided us with some very interesting concept models that do eventually make it – in some form or other – to production models.
Nissan to Reveal Rugged Hyper Adventure 4×4 at Tokyo Motor Show
Nissan has revealed the Hyper Adventure concept in time for the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show (now officially rebranded as the Japan Mobility Show) which is set to fly into action from 25 October until 5 November; no doubt ending with fireworks.
The Eco-friendly Hyper Adventure – Advanced EV Concept
The Nissan Hyper Adventure is a 4×4 aimed at the more adventurous and rugged among us, with an eye firmly on previewing new technology that is likely to be part of future Nissan electric models.
The car itself is based on the Nissan V2X bi-directional global charging platform. Essentially, V2X consists of vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-building (V2B) charging.
Here, ‘X’ means everything. How your utility supplier gives you electricity can vary, but peak, more expensive moments can be offset by V2X technology providing you with power, and then recouping that power when prices are lower during the 24-hour cycle of a day.
It’s an interesting concept and extends the usage of your vehicle. Interesting.
The Nissan Hyper Adventure itself is yet another rather angular design. It does seem that the recent spate of retro vehicles and a re-love of all things 1970s has filtered into the mindsets of current automobile designers, and the result is a slight moving away from the sweeping curves which can be rather limited if adhered to rigidly, as dictated by the wind tunnel.
It’s also quite a Japanese automotive thing, and we only have to look back a few years to see how revolutionary the revamped GT-R appeared to be.
With each concept comes the prior ‘fleshing out’ of the individual that might want to own such a car; here we have the go anywhere adventurous individual, and as such the Nissan Hyper Adventure caters specifically for those requirements.
A unique tilting rear seat can be flipped backwards to face the tailgate, and rear retractable steps allow users to exit and enter the vehicle via the back door.
The Hyper Adventure is a 4×4, and the concept features the new e-4ORCE all-wheel drive technology.
Two electric motors at either end of the vehicle distribute weight evenly, while e-4ORCE itself controls torque and braking for each individual wheel, reducing over and under-steer and assisting in effortlessly providing more grip for uphill travels.
e-4ORCE reacts at an impressive 10,000 times per second adapting to the changing environment.
The Nissan Hyper Adventure 4×4 concept is a space-age looking vehicle that, judging by previous Nissan concepts, has a fair chance of making it to production, albeit maybe as a slightly watered-down version.
As a design piece, it would certainly gain a few curious looks.
The Tokyo Motor Show will give those interested in the Hyper Adventure 4×4 the chance to see the concept alongside the Hyper Urban concept city car.
The likelihood is that this will be more a cinematic and digital experience, as neither car has yet been revealed in the flesh.
