There was a time, working in an office for Nissan as part of a larger company, when the management brought in some highly paid executives to design a new company logo (not for Nissan). The team went through some statistical reasoning as to why the royal blue and red were used, citing some alternative colours as looking cheap – orange was one of those.Wanting to argue that so many sports car and supercar manufacturers use orange to display their finest, most expensive wares nearly got the better of me, before realising you can’t argue with anyone who depends on statistics to decide on what looks good. Mercedes Vision One-Eleven concept car, finished in the most spectacular, finest metallic orange you may have ever seen, looks every part the sort of car that would make all other cars appear inconsequential.New Mercedes Seamless ‘One-bow’ DesignMercedes have designed the Vision One-Eleven from the ground up without any adherence to other automobile choices whatsoever; the connection between roof and glass and front and rear bonnets appears to be seamless.Mercedes call this a one-bow design, where a seamless blend of everything unites in a perfect balance.The 2-seater, all-electric Mercedes Vision One-Eleven was revealed recently at a rather exclusive setting at Mercedes design headquarters based in California.The Vision One-Eleven is a collaboration between Mercedes and YASA, a British company that is now looked after by Mercedes and who created the car’s powertrain.In fact, the car is essentially designed to showcase such innovative powertrain technology, although it’s pretty hard to see beyond the overall design itself. YASA are producing lighter weight powertrains with no skimping on the power that can be supplied.It’s a step forward for innovators of automobile powertrains, as the desire to produce reliable versions that weigh much less than they do currently, frantically speeds ahead.The Vision One-Eleven may introduce a new game changing batteryAn advanced battery pack being designed for the F1 team is also on the cards here too, with liquid-cooled cylindrical cells by Mercedes experts in Brixworth.YASA are now one of three UK companies that are being nurtured and looked after by Mercedes, including HPP in Brixworth and the F1 team based in Brackley.New AR Driven Vision One-Eleven C/W HeadsetInside, the car becomes even more space-age and alien than it appears from the outside, with the use of augmented reality which effectively presents the entire overall interior car as the interface for the driver. A Magic Leap 2 AR headset is featured here.It does (unfortunately) seem that the Vision One-Eleven will remain just as it is today – an eye-catching concept. Though some of what is housed inside will likely go on to become part of the new Mercedes sports car the AMG, which is set to be revealed as we head closer to 2025, as well as further Mercedes vehicles as we step forward into a world with all-electric vehicles.While the car looks futuristic, there are design elements here that hark back to previous Mercedes vehicles; the super-flush gullwing doors and, among all the hi-tech, some rather retro looking circular rear lights.It’s a very fine design line between showcasing new technology whilst not detracting from it – here, I do think that Mercedes has produced one of the most beautifully different looking cars I’ve seen for a long time.Images: mercedes-benz.com"},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
Mercedes Vision One-Eleven Concept Car
https://smart-motoring.com/by-manufacturer/mercedes-benz/mercedes-vision-one-eleven-concept-car/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
