Kia have announced the pricing and specification for the manufacturer’s new Ceed GT and GT-Line models, with the new range adding an exciting flair to the marque’s line-up.
Having been designed, developed, built in Europe and targeted solely at the European audience, the new Ceed GT has undergone a dramatic change from the standard Ceed, with sportier styling and a range of additions to really bolster its appeal in the market.
Featuring sleeker lines, a range of suspension and electronic driver aids adapted exclusively for the new GT and having undergone a six-month development programme to fine-tune the ride and handling, the brand hopes that its newest model will hit all of the right spots to really capture the imagination of European buyers.
The exterior is sculpted to provide a more “athletic proposition” than the standard Ceed model, with a new front bumper design, nose grille and dark chrome surround creating a sportier feel.
It also comes with 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels as standard and the ride has been lowered by 5mm over the standard Ceed to give a lower centre of gravity, better handling and a more high-performance aesthetic to the GT line.
Delivering a top speed of 143mph and able to get from zero to 62mph in 7.2 seconds, the new 1.6-litre T-GDi engine offers not only excellent performance with 201bhp and 265Nm of torque, but is also highly economical, offering combined fuel economy of 38.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 155g/km.
Inside, the model is chock full of the latest gadgets and technology, including Kia’s latest 8.0-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen satellite navigation system and full Bluetooth smartphone integration, automatic lights, keyless entry and heated front seats.
Highlighting the model’s expected impact on buyers and why Kia view this as a great addition to their range, chief operating officer for Kia Motors Europe Emilio Herrera commented: “The all-new Ceed GT occupies a unique position in the mid-size family car segment and doesn’t simply chase the highest top speed or fastest straight-line acceleration.
“It offers greater agility and grip on winding roads, maximum confidence and comfort at a cruise, and fast-revving turbocharged power perfectly matched to European tastes.”
A total of six levels of specification will be available for European buyers in the months ahead, ranging in price from £21,535 OTR to £25,535 OTR.
