Jaguar’s first SVR capable of over 200 mph.The Jaguar F-Type SVR is a truly spectacular car that, unfortunately, isn’t often considered when talking about today’s top-performing sports cars and supercars. On the lower end, the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R may dominate the conversation and then of course when you talk about the more expensive supercars, there’s the Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens to steal the spotlight.When was the last time you heard about the Jaguar SVR?The British marque may be doing well in terms of their SUV sales and awareness but when it comes to the F-Type, the car has a rather niche and cult following.Now, considering the F-Type SVR’s astonishing capability often found on motorsport track day events around the country, the fact that no one is talking about it is an absolute travesty! It’s a perfect competitor to the Mercedes-AMG GT and Porsche 911 that offers another great option for a stylish, loud and performant machine.Being able to accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, reach a top speed of 200 mph and scare the life out of pedestrians with a simple touch of the accelerator, the F-Type SVR does pretty much everything a supercar does, the only issue being its engine is in the front and F-Types are also available to order with 2.0-litre engines that produce 296 horsepower.Sure, it doesn’t have fancy scissor or gullwing doors and the F-Type SVR is just a souped-up version of the F-Type (which is undeniably a sports car, not a supercar) but if you disregard these small things and just appreciate the car for what it is, you may see it for the supercar killer that it was made to be.Despite what others may think of it being a sports car, Jaguar describes it as an ‘all-weather supercar’, likely in reference to its clever all-wheel-drive system which allows for more confident driving in typical wet British weather. All four wheels are spun by Jaguar’s famous 5.0-litre supercharged V8 which produces a whopping 567 hp at 6,500 rpm and 700 Nm of torque.The car’s chassis, brakes, steering and suspension have all been comprehensively uprated to totally sever the connection between the standard F-Type and the SVR model. An active carbon fibre rear wing, diffuser, front bumper, splitter and flat underfloor were added for improved aerodynamics and the exhaust system was made louder and lighter. The interior featured unique SVR seats, Alcantara dash and steering wheel and a carbon fibre roof option was available when these cars were still available to purchase as new, saving up to 50kg of weight when compared to the F-Type R AWD.Carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch wheels, uniquely calibrated Quickshift transmission and steering – this car is a precision-engineered supercar and there’s no doubt about it. Not only that but they’re rather uncommon, look gorgeous, was the first Jaguar model to sport the SVR badge, was the first Jaguar to have a top speed of over 200 mph since the legendary XJ220 and also has a supercharger under the bonnet, giving it a sense of old-school coolness!There may be horror stories out there of this car being unreliable but if those don’t scare you, the F-Type SVR is a car that enthusiasts should appreciate a little more.Let us know what you think, in the comments.If you enjoyed this, you may also like: ‘Aston Martin Trying To Appeal To Youth With Rap’"},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
F-Type SVR: Supercar Killer No One’s Talking About
https://smart-motoring.com/by-manufacturer/jaguar/f-type-svr-supercar-killer-no-ones-talking-about/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
