The previous 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine has been upgraded to deliver 616bhp and 553 lb-ft of torque.The X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition will reach a top speed of 155mph but can be raised to 180mph with the optional M Driver\u2019s Package. They can accelerate from 50-75mph in 3.2sec in fourth gear, thanks to the mild-hybrid set-up. While the standing acceleration is 0.1sec slower than their predecessors, both cars can hit 62mph in just 3.9sec.BMW’s M Steptronic eight-speed gearbox and Active M differential at the rear, with Adaptive M suspension, now featuring reworked dampers, are all standard features. The vehicles also come with blacked-out kidney grilles, twin-dual M Sport exhausts, forged alloy wheels, slimmer LED headlights, and Competition badges. The X6 M Competition also features a black spoiler lip.Inside, the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition are clad in merino leather, feature the dashboard-wide BMW iDrive curved screen and are fitted with carbon fibre shifters. These luxurious vehicles are set to replace the current BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M in the German car maker\u2019s global line-up.Production of the X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition will begin in April at BMW\u2019s Spartanburg plant in the US, sharing the production line with the X3 M, X4 M, and XM.
