Every car manufacturer now strives for that all-important 5 star rating, especially as the tests get tougher every year.

How do you find the world’s safest car you may ask? Well, Euro NCAP’s rating is the solution!

They provide a score out of 5 based on the following four things;

  • Adult protection
  • Child protection
  • Pedestrian protection
  • Safety assist technologies.

The following top three cars have been awarded 5 stars by Euro NCAP and have climbed to top spot as the safest cars in the their categories, making them ideal for anyone looking for a safe, secure vehicle to buy.

Safest large SUV: Volvo XC90

The Volvo XC90 has to be one of the safest cars you’ll ever find, as well as being a generally fantastic all rounder that offers luxury and pretty much everything a family could ask for.

This SUV is a class leader and its no real surprise that it has gained the top rating as Volvo have always maintained a dazzling safety record.

Safest roadster/convertible: Mazda MX-5

The MX-5’s looks are very impressive and so are the stats! It scored an amazing 93% for pedestrian safety, what with it being so lightweight and full of safety features.

Mazda have come up with a petite two-seater sports car that has a big personality, winning buyers over with its promise of a fun drive whilst being surprisingly practical at the same time.

Since there are little to no CO2 emissions, company car tax is really very low and the warranties are long enough to keep anyone happy; 5 years & unlimited miles (8 years and 125,000 miles for batteries).
