‘Mmmm doughnuts’ – that was the general reaction around the Motor-Vision office when we came up with the idea for this feature. Saturday 5th November is more than just Bonfire Night (or Guy Fawkes Night), it’s National Doughnut Day too!
With such a perfect coincidence, it begs the question ‘why aren’t there more treacle toffee doughnuts?’ but you can stop doing your best Homer Simpson drool because we’re not focusing on the delicious deep-fried icing-topped circular snack today.
Instead our attention is on the most insane car doughnuts on the interwebs. Prepare your senses and spare a prayer for those helpless rear tyres…
Italy’s blue light Lambo
This is ludicrous on so many levels: a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, that is actually a legitimate Italian police car used to chase bad guys and everything, summoning rings of smoke from its back-end.
Thinking about it, which car is better suited for pursuing villains than a 552bhp supercar? This totally makes sense!
On a side note, London Metropolitan Police actually ran two Gallardos as emergency blue light vehicles in 2005 and 2006, so don’t feel that the Italians get to have all the fun.
Seb Vettel’s Ferrari F1
A four-time Formula One world champion should be able to do pretty much anything behind the wheel of a car, so it’s no surprise that one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time is pretty handy at doing doughnuts.
Lewis Hamilton’s Goodwood doughnuts
Sticking with F1 for a second, three-time F1 world champ Lewis Hamilton got a bit giddy with the doughnuts during his drive up the 1.15-mile hillclimb at 2013’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Outside Ace Cafe
In case you aren’t privy to Ace Cafe, it’s a renowned meeting spot near Wembley Stadium used by bikers and petrolheads for car meets of all shapes and sizes.
