Ford is one of the best-known car companies in the world and the Simply Ford annual event which celebrates this superb manufacturer is coming up on the 30th of April 2017.
Owners and Ford enthusiasts are guaranteed a fantastic day out and this event is going to provide the opportunity to admire a huge range of stunning vehicles.
Its the perfect place for enthusiasts to meet up with other Ford fans and exhibit their cars, for the opportunity to be the chosen winner of the People’s Choice Award.
People love modifying Fords and this event is going to have everything from modded Fiestas to Mk1 Escorts and even transits with modified exhausts, brakes, suspensions and much more; this event really will have everything you could possibly think of when it comes to customised and modded Fords.
Today we are going to be looking back at the key moments in Ford’s history, starting with the Model T…
Model T
In 1908, Ford introduced the Model T and sold over 15 million of them, making it truly one of the icons of the motoring industry.
By 1913 they had introduced an assembly line which reduced the time of making the Model T from 12.5 hours to 1.5 hours, as well as reducing costs of manufacturing, revolutionising car manufacturing forever.
Model A
The Model A was introduced in 1927 and this was the very first car to ever have the famed Ford logo that is still used to this day.
By 1931 they had sold over five million of the Model A, despite the Great Depression.
The Ford Mustang
In 1964 the first ever Mustang went on sale, going on to be one of Ford’s biggest success stories.
Today the Mustang remains one of the best known and biggest-selling vehicles in history.
Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta was introduced in 1976 and their developing budget of $870 million paid off, breaking the year sales record that the 1965 Mustang originally held.
Another huge success story of Ford, the Fiesta is one of the biggest selling cars in the world, and has been the best selling car in the UK for the last few years.
Fun Fact: It was beating its closest competitor by more than 43,000 units at the end of 2016.
The Mondeo
Known by many names including Fusion, Contour and Mercury Mystique in the US , the Ford Mondeo was first introduced to Europe in 1993.
The Mondeo has picked up a number of Car of the Year awards in recent years and we definitely think they look the part.
The Ford GT Supercar
2004 was the year of the 550 horsepower Ford GT and this model took inspiration from the legendary GT40 that dominated endurance racing from the 1966 to 1969.
Ford’s remain a firm favourite among car lovers and its no surprise considered their innovation and range of classic features that we have come to know and love.
Over the last hundred years or so, their vehicles have proved to be reliable and there is something special about the brand that has gained them a loyal following around the world.
