International motor exhibitions litter the calendar and while New York, Paris/Frankfurt and now our very own London stage highly respected motor shows, it’s Geneva that’s the big one.So what can we expect from this year’s event?McLaren SennaPerhaps the biggest reveal at Geneva will be the Senna: McLaren’s most extreme road car ever.Pictures of the hyper car emerged in the run-up to Christmas and although a second batch of figures arrived in early February, barely anyone from outside of the company has seen the Senna in the metal. That will all change at Geneva though, and we can hardly wait.Weighing 1,198kg, it is the lightest McLaren road car since the iconic McLaren F1 so stick in a four-litre twin-turbocharged V8 – the most powerful McLaren road car internal combustion engine ever – and you’re looking at a 0-62mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 211mph. Ridiculous!Only 500 will ever be built and each will set you back £750,000.Ferrari 488 PistaWhile we’re talking about ‘extremes’, the 488 Pista will make use of the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history – a 709bhp 3902cc unit that in a car weighing 1,280kg equates to a phenomenal power to weight ratio of 562bhp per tonne. This means that from a standstill, it can race to 62mph in 2.85 seconds and 124mph in 7.6 seconds, with a top speed matching the Senna’s 211mph.More on the 488 Pista hereJaguar I-PaceThis electric SUV will have been revealed by the time Geneva opens but anyone who doesn’t make it into the I-Pace’s dedicated unveiling ceremony will get chance to see it up close at Geneva.Details are scant at time of writing, but the 394bhp concept car on which the I-Pace is based could accelerate to 62mph in around four seconds with a range of more than 310 miles – so expect something along the lines of that.More on the I-Pace herePolestar 1Formerly Volvo’s performance division, Polestar announced back in October that it is separating from its Swedish parents to make electric and hybrid cars focused on stunning performance. The standalone brand’s first car – the rather unimaginatively named Polestar 1 – has already been revealed along with some impressive figures like 591bhp, 1,000Nm of torque and up to 93 miles of pure electric motoring.Geneva will be the Polestar 1’s European debut appearance, so expect further details on the two-door, four-seater grand tourer coupé.Read more on the Polestar 1 hereBMW X4This second-gen mid-size SUV coupe is longer, wider and lower than the original X4 and BMW says it will have more enhanced driving dynamics, a stronger coupé silhouette and even more refinement than the first.More on the new X4 hereOther cars set to cause a stir at Geneva:Volvo V60, the refreshed Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, new Honda CR-V, Aston Martin Vantage, Skoda Vision X urban crossover and range-topping Kodiaq L&K.Which cars are you most looking forward to seeing?
