There is no question that electric cars are the future as fossil fuel deposits slowly start to decline and global warming becomes more apparent. Many car manufacturers are starting to produce their own electric or hybrid cars and in this blog post we are going to look at the markets top 3 strongest contenders.
BMW i3: The Luxurious
Offering a range of 80-100 miles per battery charge, the i3 not only brings style and the BMW badge to the electric car market, it brings excellent performance.
Perfect for city life, the car is small, nippy and lightweight. The only thing that brings down the slick i3 is the high price tag which comes in at £32,330 which, compared to its rivals, is quite pricey.
Tesla Model 3: The Innovative
First up we have the highly anticipated Tesla Model 3, which has gone down amazingly in the motoring world, already accumulating 373,000 reservations! The Model 3 is set to be one of the most affordable electric saloons to date, coming in at approximately £26,000.
Tesla have really pulled it out of the bag and are offering a battery option which has a 311 mile range! Considering the UK electric car market is mostly swamped by smaller city cars, the Model 3 will bring a larger size similar to the BMW 7 series.
Nissan Leaf: The Affordable
To date, the Leaf, is the most successful and popular electric car. Having sold over 200,00 units since it was originally released in 2010 and with prices starting at around the 20K mark, it is one of the more affordable electric options. The Leaf will give you 124 miles per charge on the basic battery, where as the model up will extend the journey time to 155 miles.
If you are looking for a practical family car that is going to be cheap to run then this is the car for you.
The Verdict
In conclusion it’s clear to see that the motoring world is heading for an all-electric future. In our opinion, Tesla is taking the lead and is the most innovative brand. We can’t wait to see the Tesla Model 3 perform and what the brand has to offer going forward.
