6 Cars We Want To Be Our Valentine

It’s that time of the year where everyone is encouraged to be romantic and express their love and appreciation for their significant other in the most heartfelt way possible: flowers, choccies, a tatty little teddy holding a heart that reads ‘I wuv u x x’. You know the kind of thing.

Some cars are so accomplished that they get some people quite passionate, so which cars would we want to be our valentine this February 14th?

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

The ‘cloverleaf’ that denotes Alfa’s performance-focussed Quadrifoglio models has been a bit lost in recent years. While the Giulietta Quadrifoglio delivered a fair dose of fun, it still remained a flawed and awkward hatch that could only dream of competing with the Golf GTI and Focus ST.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio isn’t a world beater either but it is more in line with what people want from a modern hot Alfa. Handling is sweet, light and direct, it is awesome to look at and with more than 500bhp, it goes like a rocket.

Jaguar E-Type

You know a car is a looker when Enzo Ferrari is moved enough to label it “the most beautiful car ever made”. The Jaguar E-Type, which was built between 1961 and 1975 was also ranked first in the Daily Telegraph’s ‘100 most beautiful cars of all time’ list.

If Audrey Hepburn was a car, she’d be the E-Type, because its elegant, iconic, stunning and timeless.

Mercedes-Benz C 63 Cabriolet

Everyone loves practicality, everyone loves performance, everyone loves getting the roof down (when conditions allow) and everyone loves a shiny high-end German badge, even if they pretend they don’t. All this comes together to make Merc’s hot soft-top C-Class a truly irresistible car.

Peugeot 308 GTi

‘A Peugeot?!’ I hear you cry. Yes, while this Golf GTI rival may not command the same level of respect as the segment leaders, that’s mostly down to brand snobbery and Peugeot’s stumbles in the past (206 GTi, 407, 1007 anyone?)

We have a fondness for this family-friendly hot hatch though and that’s ‘cause it’s a great car.

2013’s 208 GTi saw Pug get its performance label back on track and the 308 GTi confirmed that strong return a year later.

Tesla Model X

Anything with vertically opening falcon doors is worthy of your valentine’s card, but there’s so much more to the Model X than a silly 80s-fueled gimmick.

It is the first all-electric SUV to reach the UK market with a range of up to 300 miles and a 0-62mph of 2.9 seconds in its fastest iteration. Say you’ll be mine, Model X?

Range Rover Evoque Convertible

So many people groaned when the open-top Evoque was announced but everyone knew it was inevitable.

The Evoque appeals to exactly the kind of person that appreciates some top-down action and although we know we shouldn’t be so easily won over, chopping the roof off what was already a sleek and desirable SUV sets our hearts pumping.
